At your service

Coming to your Home is part of our Community Work Programme, where our residents work alongside our team to support people in the community. This is therapeutic work - our residents learn practical skills, develop healthy work habits, and build the confidence and routine that come with meaningful activity. Through this process, they rebuild self-worth, hope, and resilience, preparing for employment in their chosen fields during the later stages of our programme.

Through our work programme, we are connecting with and supporting people in our community, which creates a sense of belonging and contribution, as well as meaning and purpose. Community members receive valuable help with tasks that can be difficult to manage alone – especially for elderly people, single mothers, and people with special needs.

Services we offer

Through Coming to your Home, we provide a range of practical services to the community:

  • Gardening: from weeding, pruning, and lawn mowing to planting and creating new garden beds.

  • Cleaning: whether it’s a big spring clean or smaller cleaning jobs, we are here to help. If you feel exhausted or overwhelmed, give us a call!

  • General assistance: including small household removals, minor repairs, and painting. We can give you a hand with many tasks you find difficult to do.

Our services are offered at reasonable rates, making them accessible to people on lower incomes, those with disabilities, or retirees. By providing affordable, reliable help, we make it easier for people to stay in their homes and maintain their independence, while giving our residents meaningful opportunities to grow and contribute.

Public Events

We love to connect with the community in many ways – through our events, seminars, courses, groups, fundraisers, and the various aspects of our programme. Each of these opportunities helps build understanding, growth, and relationship for both our residents and the wider community.

Seminars

At Coming Home, our goal is to equip not only our residents but also the broader community. Our vision is to offer educational opportunities on meaningful topics such as trauma, addiction, relationships, communication, emotional wellbeing, and identity. Through these seminars, we aim to contribute to the prevention of issues as well as to support those already affected. Public events and seminars will be announced on our News-page.

Courses

Some parts of the Coming Home residential programme are open to the wider community. We invite community members to join selected courses, teachings, and groups that promote learning, growth, and connection. If you’re interested in taking part, please get in touch with us - we would love to hear from you!

Work

Our community work is a wonderful opportunity to build new connections and relationships - all while getting the job done! By using our services, you not only receive practical help and support but also become part of something meaningful. Your support helps our residents gain valuable experience and contributes to a stronger, more connected community.

We help you with gardening, cleaning, and other jobs that need to be done around your house. Give us a call, and we will come to you!

Volunteering

We warmly welcome volunteers into our House of Healing . As a volunteer, you can become part of our programme and help in many meaningful ways. You might support through mentorship, devotions, admin, gardening, cooking or baking. Or you may like to help organise group activities, fun nights, celebrations, or outings. Our residents also appreciate when you listen with love and offer encouragement.

If you have specific training, or professional skills, you may also help with teaching, counselling or prayer ministry. Alternatively, you may be able to teach your work skills to our residents. This may be areas like building, carpentry, landscaping, painting, business, accounting, design, or arts and craft. You may even join our work team and help deliver community services.

We love to connect with you and do life together. Meaningful relationships benefit everyone involved.

Volunteering with us gives you a sense of belonging as you connect, build relationships, and become part of our community. It offers fulfilment and purpose, knowing you’re helping people to get back on their feet and making a real difference in our town and society. You’ll also have opportunities to learn, grow, and receive training - because giving your time and love transforms not only others’ lives, but your own as well.
